Of course we never want summer to end and this month is no exception. With all the exciting Events going on at the Club, you will certainly agree!
Here is how your August is shaping up:

Course Update
  

Our greens have several varieties of Poe Anna (annual bentgrass) and a few of these are very weak due to excessive heat and humidity. Unfortunately, they have declined over the past four weeks due to temperatures reaching 88° or higher with extreme humidity over 75%. This causes leaf yellowing, reduces root length and can result in death of the bentgrass. With the soaring heat, we have had soil temperatures in excess of 101°. In addition, our lake water temperatures reached as high as 88°, which is not beneficial for cooling the soil.
 
To try to combat these conditions, we have raised the height of cut trying to relieve stress on the grass along with applying fungicides and green UV protectant (sunscreen for plants). We have had success over seeding new bentgrass into these areas and you can now see small square patterns of new bentgrass growing from these holes.
In the weeks ahead, these areas will continue to heal and improve.

Happy Hour & Seafood Boil


Clear your calendars for Friday, August 10th and plan on spending the entire evening with us. First, we will host Happy Hour from 5:30pm - 7:30pm with entertainment by Eric Lewis. After Happy Hour gets underway, we will host our first ever Seafood Boil at 6:00pm...here's hoping it becomes another Club favorite!

Couples Golf for August

We will be hosting another Couples Golf night on Friday, August 17.
So come out and enjoy a fun summer evening with your favorite partner.

Aerification...

Aerification will begin on Sunday afternoon August 19th thru Tuesday morning August 21st.  Tee times will be available AFTER 12:00 noon on Tuesday.
 
*Clubhouse and Course closed on Monday August 20th
